photogrammetry
The science and art of obtaining accurate measurements by use of photographs for various purposes, such as construction of planimetric and topographic maps, classification of soils, interpretation of geology, acquisition of military intelligence, and preparation of composite pictures of the ground. Terrestrial photogrammetry, in which photographs are taken from the ground, and aerial photogrammetry, in which photographs are taken from the air, are two types of photogrammetry.
